Dontas kicked off the weekend on a high note in qualifying, finishing P4 in an extremely tight field.

Qualifying was great, it was so close in the top bunch and I’m really happy we maximised both Q1 and Q2,” Dontas said.

Race 1 was in tough contention for those in the front pack, where Dontas fought to hold his starting position and finish P4.

Race 1 was safe, again the top bunch was so tight it was hard to make a move,” Dontas said.

The reverse grid in Race 2 flipped the field to start Dontas in P12, where he jumped his way up to P4.

Played a similiar the game in Race 2 to Race 1, to jump up 8 spots was great, we had set ourselves up for the final race really well,” Dontas said.

Race 3 saw Dontas jet to the front of the pack, finishing P2, his best result for the weekend.

We were so close, we had the speed it’s just hard to attack our team mate. Myself and Dave had a plan, which worked but unfortunately he got the jump at the start. We will get it next time!,” Dontas said.

Dontas is ecstatic to achieve P2 Overall for the round, and feels that an round win is not far away.

The CRC Driver is now sitting 3rd in championship, and has plenty of time to regroup prior to Bathurst 1000 with a big gap in the V8 Ute Season.

“We are so close, consistency is good and so is the speed. With only 3 rounds to go we are back in the game! We will be getting some testing done and then a new engine put in for Bathurst,” Dontas said.

“I will be starting to race karts too so will be making sure I am race fit for the next rounds.”
